LAGOON--JULY 7, 2011

Lagoon has definitely become a Garner Family destination  each summer when everyone comes home for our family reunion.  When our children were growing up, we also had some great times at Lagoon with the Copeland's when they still lived in SLC.  Lagoon actually opened in 1886, so it has been around a long time.

We divide up now with pre-teens and teenagers venturing out on their own and the mothers staying with the little ones.  Bulgy the Whale is usually the first stop.  Here's Izzy...

...Abigail, McKay and Ruby.

Rett is contemplating on "maybe" going on a ride.

Adelyn, Holland, Ashley and McKay.

Jennifer and Isabella

Cohen just loves Lagoon! Don't you love his new smile.  His family has season passes and living right in Farmington, they just run down for a few hours in the summer month evenings.

Jaden took time out to go on the swings with his younger sister, Brielle.

McKenna and Olivia used to be two of our little girls going on the kiddee rides, as well as...

...Cohen and Jaxon our little boys.  They have all grown up so quickly.

Who are these cute girls?

Rett finally got up the nerve to go on a ride with his sister Abby and Ruby and Brielle.

Channing and Michele

Elsie being a little mother to Cohen.

I remember when I went on these little cars at Disneyland, and didn't think life could get any better--to drive my own car!

Adelyn taking a short break.

Benson just loved watching everything and everyone.

Another tradition is to take time out for an ice cream cone in Pioneer Village.

Another fun thing is to see the miniature circus...

...baby carriages, rocking horses, cast iron toys,...

...games, dolls and doll furniture,...

...children's cars, wagons, sleighs...

...and children's furniture from the 19th Century.

We couldn't pass up taking a picture of McKay standing next to a picture of one of the circus stars.

This Wells Fargo stagecoach is one of many wheeled conveyances used at the turn-of-the century and found in The Carnegie Hall Museum at Pioneer Village.

Our girls met up with two sisters that were members of a family that we were very close friends with in Missoula, Montana.  The Lind Family also had seven children who were about the same ages as ours.  They were in our ward.  We went out with their parents all the time, and we even took a trip one summer with their family to Glacier National Park and Edmonton and Banff, Canada.  Kelsey is on the left and Kiley on the right.  It was so good to see them!

The two Jaden's--Little Jaden is Kelsey's son!  Isn't he darling?

Rett just loved wandering around and exploring everywhere we went.

It was so great having the ENTIRE Lake family with us this year.  Brian, we loved having you be a part of our family event this summer.

That's truly what summer is all about--spending time with family in fun places and getting better acquainted with cousins, as well as bonding once again with siblings and their spouses.  Here's to next summer at Lagoon!!!

This brought tears to my eyes as I thought about how many times I saw my own kids on Bulgy the Whale and the little boats with them ringing the bells. I will never forget Andrea and Craig getting on the little dragon roller coaster and running so fast to get back on that we couldn't even catch them. They must have done it 25 times in a row, at least! Hah! Anyway, good times. But even bfore that was the Rigby Family Reunion in Newton when we were young kids. How I wish I would have listened more to the reunion speeches. All I cared about was that the next day we were going to Lagoon!!!

So true about the reunions, Laura. I would love to go back in time and listen to some of the Newton speeches. I am impressed that the reunions were geared to taking time to reflect on their ancestors. Something to keep in mind when doing our reunions. Joyce, your kids had a ball together and they will cherish these wonderful photos you took time to capture while they were all having fun.
