SEATTLE WITH THE HYDE FAMILY

Beth and Ted, Mark and Natalie, Dad and Doug and I stayed another day in Seattle; the rest of the group had to get back home.  We booked rooms in the same location at the Downtown Hilton.  Doug and I walked 10 blocks down to the Washington Ferry Terminal to meet Adam, Ashley, McKay, Ruby and Benson who rode over on the ferry from Bremerton, their home.
Doug greeting McKay and Ruby!
It was such a treat to see these sweet little kids!
We walked from the ferry down the pier and ate at Ivars, a famous fish restaurant...,
...which had excellent seafood!
McKay colored this picture while waiting for our food.

This was a mask that the restaurant gave the kids,...
...and, of course, Papa Doug tried it on...
...while Benson wondered out who this strange guy was?!?
A little further down the pier, we walked through  “Ye Olde Curiosity Shop” (a narrow, cluttered gift novelty store with American mummies, which has been in continuous operation by the same family in one form or another since 1899).

Grandpa bought them some fun suckers

...and then we slowly made our way back up to the hotel.
Beautiful flowers along the way

We walked through Pike's Market.  By this time the crowds and excitement were gone, however since we've been there a few times already, it was fun to feel like we had the place all to ourselves!
A large bronze pig at the market
McKay sitting on our hotel room window seat looking out through the big glass window...
...over the beautiful city on such a clear day.

We all went to Grandpa's room and said hello!
Adam then walked back to the pier and took the ferry home so that Ashley and the kids could stay the night with us.  The next morning, we ate breakfast in the dining room on the top of the hotel, shopped, ate lunch and then slowly wound our way down to the pier again where we said goodbye to the Hyde's.
It's amazing how many things you can do and how much fun you can have in 24 hours!!!  We took a taxi back to the hotel and left with Dad, Natalie and Mark, and Ted and Beth for the airport where we returned home Saturday evening.
Doug and I felt this was such a bonus to spend time with the Hyde Family after our cruise!  Thanks for making the effort, Hyde Family!

Those little kids are so darling--and isn't it so great that you were able to spend that extra time with them! I really wish we could have spent time at the Pike's Market. Maybe on another trip!

That is so great you were able to stay another day to visit your kids too. I know that was a bonus for my parents as well. I guess when you have so many kids, and they are living all over, it makes it convenient to stop and see at least one of them wherever you are, right? You guys are great parents and grandparents!!
