DAY 5: NEW YORK CITY/THE TODAY SHOW

5.  NEW YORK CITY/THE TODAY SHOW--We were sad to leave Boston but excited about our two days and one-night stay in New York City.
Crossing the Hudson River to New York City!!
Holland was pretty excited about being in Time Square...
...which truly is amazing!!!
Michele and some of her kids at Time Square also.
One of our first stops was The American Girl Store!
Holland received an American Doll for Christmas, so...
...she found something special for that doll!
The next morning Michele, her kids and I got up and walked down to Rockefeller Plaza to see "The Today Show."
The famous window that people stand around!
On a Tuesday morning, the crowds weren't bad at all and all four main hosts were out on the plaza...
...and so was Aaron Kelly, the American Idol Finalist who had just gotten voted off the week before.
He was really friendly too and let us take lots of pictures!
Two years ago when Michele and I went to the show, Al Roker and Matt came over to visit with us and were so friendly, however this year...
...Meredith Viera took time to talk to us!
She was very nice and seemed sincerely interested in everyone she visited with!
We then walked to Central Park to meet up with Camille and Jennifer.  This bronze Atlas Statue was at Rockefeller Plaza.
Trump Towers where "The Apprentice" is filmed!
Prada Store on Fifth Avenue--I didn't even know what Prada was until I saw the movie with Meryl Streep.
Beautiful Bergdorf Goodman window on Fifth Avenue
General Sherman statue
Cole on a colorful sculpture at the entrance to one corner of Central Park.
My three oldest daughters with some of their children at Columbus Circle on our way to eat breakfast at Whole Foods Market!
This statue was erected in 1892 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the great explorer's voyage to America.
Interesting sculpture next to Columbus statue.

After breakfast, we headed back to the hotel and said our goodbyes to The Anderson family.  Family trips just are over too soon!!!  However, we have some wonderful memories of being together and seeing some exciting places and history.  Doug, Camille, Holland and I drove to The Lakes home and spent the night.  Michele fixed such a nice early birthday dinner for me. We loved hearing Jaden sing while playing the piano, watching McKenna dancing on her toe ballet shoes, playing ball with Cole and Garner and following busy Brielle around the house.   We woke up the next morning and drove the 3-1/2 to 4-hour drive back to Boston, said goodbye to Holland Camille and arrived home that evening.

What a fun trip Mom. How cool is that that Michele got her picture taken with a couple of celebrities?! Makes me want to go back to NY and maybe someday Boston!
