Thanksgiving Point's Tulip Festival--April 27, 2013
Jennifer had never been to Thanksgiving Point's Tulip Festival, so Jennifer, Olivia, Isabella and I attended on a beautiful blue-sky, spring afternoon. The festival is truly an awe-inspiring sight with a quarter of a million (100 different varieties) tulips from Holland spread throughout the 55-acre gardens.
There are 15-themed gardens--we started at the Children's Discovery Garden. This is Izzy on Noah's Ark. In the summer there are pools of water and shooting fountains around the ark.

Izzy thought these bronze baby ducklings were so cute!
Isabella on a fun jungle gym.
Waterfall Amphitheater--In the background, is the largest manmade waterfall in the Western Hemisphere. People are sitting on the hill waiting for live performers to perform at the large amphitheater.
The color schemes of the flowers were just gorgeous!
Fifteen majestic, life-size sculptural scenes depicting unforgettable Biblical events from the life of Christ can be seen at The Light of the World Garden. This bronze sculpture is Christ walking on water.
Angela Johnson, the artist that sculpted all 13 scenes, has quite the inspirational story to tell. She was studying to be an operatic soprano with the Metropolitan Opera when she started sculpting. You can hear about her experience in a six-minute video at the following website:

You really should go just to see the amazing sculptures!
Even the ornamental cabbage was gorgeous!

...and looking down the continuation of the fountain!
Secret Garden--This would be fun to have a secret garden of our own, wouldn't it?

You can see the Garden Visitor Center in the far background.

Lovely setting with a latticed bridge crossing a meandering stream graced by spring flowers. What could be more lovely!
Jennifer just seems to fit perfectly amongst the beautiful tulips at the visitor center.
Having fun with a fake giant tulip.
That evening, I was able to attend Adelyn, Holland and Elsie's dance performance at Viewmont High School, which is a yearly dance review performed by the dance team, the Vikelle's. The three girls took part in one of the numbers and had a great time--"Theme to Superman."
All in all, the day couldn't have been more fun! I can't express it enough, but I am truly enjoying having Jennifer and her family living only about 40 minutes away. They are loving living in Utah, and we couldn't be more thrilled for them, especially since we can take opportunities like today to be together. Thanks for spending the afternoon with me Anderson girls! I had a wonderful time!!!
