SUMMER 2009

SUMMER 2009

Whew! What a July we have had!! All six daughters and 13/15 grandchildren came to stay at our house from 1-3+ weeks (the other two grandchildren live in the next community)! During that time, we celebrated six birthdays, attended the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House, went to the Bountiful 24th of July Handcart Parade, attended the Leitzell Family Reunion, and Heather and Joyce flew to Boise for Layne and Rachael Boyle's wedding, along with shopping, going out to favorite places to eat, swimming in the Farmington Pool and just enjoying being together in the backyard!

McKAY'S 4th BIRTHDAY PARTY/LAGOON - JULY 18
McKay requested a rocket ship cake, so Ashley made it for him!

As you can see, McKay is certainly pleased with the creation!

ADELYN'S 4TH BIRTHDAY PARTY - JULY 20

Hillary really planned a fun party for Addy at Smoot Park, which was complete with cotton candy and snow cone machines, face painting, bug catching and ABC water balloon games, dinner/cake, and present opening!

McKenna and Olivia helped with the water balloon game.

Izzy "catching bugs" with a butterfly-shaped fly swatter--just like a fish pond. Heather is taping a plastic bug on the swatter--Hillary's clever idea!

Hillary's mom, Geri, was the face painter.

Camille helping with the snowcones.

Hillary's sister, Emily, helping with the cotton candy. She was covered all over with the whipped sugar stuff!

Cousins and friends gathering around for the unwrapping of many presents. Her face really light up when she unwrapped 20 $1 bills from Hillary's mom!

COLE'S 9TH BIRTHDAY SWIMMING PARTY - JULY 25 (celebrated July 21)
Cole's 9th birthday cake.

We celebrated Cole's birthday at the Trump's pool and bowery. Ron Trump built our home 14 years ago and passed away about two years ago from ALS but will forever be remembered for his generosity to our family, his friends and neighbors! His family continues this giving and invited our family over for a night at their pool.

Our family really enjoyed swimming in the pool--and we had it all to ourselves!

Great bowery attached to the pool area.

All the cousins!

Cole, the birthday kid, ready for a dive!

Michele had some great prizes for the water games!

LAYNE & RACHELLE BOYLE'S WEDDING - BOISE, IDAHO - JULY 17

Heather and I wanted to attend Layne's wedding in Boise. So, we left all of our family in Centerville for 24 hours and flew to Boise! We had a great time being together, along with Hattie, and had a fun time at the wonderful reception held at the Boise Art Center.

Layne and Rachael after their temple ceremony!

Heather and Layne, first cousins, are only six weeks apart in age and have many, many pictures taken of them growing up together. They were two of the cutest little kids!

Beautiful large canvas picture of the bride and groom on display at the reception, which was taken by Layne's sister, Melissa!

LEITZELL REUNION - MIDWAY, UTAH - JULY 25
Doug's mother, Virginia Leitzell Garner, had two sisters, June Pugmire and Ruth Croft. June is the only one still living, and her family hosted the reunion! We had a wonderful time visiting with Doug's cousins and their families, playing games, eating a great meal and reminiscing! Thanks Pugmire family for the outstanding reunion!!!

Doug and two of his siblings, Leslee and Scott, with June and Glen Pugmire

Leslee's entire family attended! It was great seeing everyone, especially Ann, Stephanie and Kathy who live far away.

Doug had three of his children there -- Michele & Brian (and family), Tom & Hillary (and girls) and Heather (and Hattie). The rest were at their spouses' family reunions or grandfather's 90th birthday parties.

Scott and Syd's entire family also attended!

Four of Michele's first cousins (three of Leslee's girls and one of Scott's) - Janae, Stephanie, Nicole & Shannon

Kathy (Leslee's daughter) and Michele were always so close and still look like sisters!

TOM'S PRE-BIRTHDAY LAST MINUTE CELEBRATION
We had a cookout on Sunday, July 26, with Michele's, Jennifer's and Tom's families (along with Heather & Hattie). As we were sitting there, we asked Tom what he was doing for his birthday, July 30. He said, "I'm flying out early Thursday morning to Europe to do some filming for the church." We were just cutting up Cole's birthday cake from a few days before, and so we placed a "3" candle on one of the pieces and another single candle (to make a 31) and had him blow out his two candles. Luckily, we had his card ready and his present (a new suitcase, since he borrows ours lately), and we celebrated his birthday, too, which makes a total of six birthdays in seven days!

MISCELLANEOUS PICTURES TAKEN DURING THE MONTH OF JULY 2009

Four of the grandkids eating on the patio. I found this little fold-up picnic table at Costco, which was well used while the little ones were here visiting!

One of Garner's favorite things to do--put puzzles together. This was about our third big one!

We just had to take this picture of Garner after coming home from church with his Primary handout.

Looks great Mom! And it's so fun to see all those pics. We really did do so much and it was so fun. You have always done so good at "journaling" everything. Great example to me.
